Home Building - Where do you begin and how to progress?

Buying my dream home is an accomplishment. Building my home is bliss. Quirky thing it’s, i.e , home building progressand the way it starts. Looks so big, when looked closer—to be honest, we grow up along with the home that’s built on our whimsical blueprint.

Where does the cabinet come?  Would the children’s bedroom look as lighted up as them? I’d rather run through their models or their work accomplishments, before I sign up with a contractor.

Dream home # Step 1:

Site found, and foundation laid – Prep up work goes on at site like clearing the garbage, stones, rocky remains and trees. In some cases, even septic tanks are included (*cesspool warnings applicable). Now, I find them digging basement followed by concrete footings and forming the template for a custom house-- framing wooden forms.

This is the exciting part. I get to know the protocol of my home. Concrete footings and trenches are filled with pouring. Then it’s cured for some time.

No activity happens at this point.

Dream home # Step 2:

Skeleton or framing of the house

Rough draft of the house, and that’s how I got it. OSB piers (Oriented Strand Board) are used to install skeleton of the house. Protected with a housewrap, pier sheathing is kept away from leaks and rotting. This is the most exciting part.

It looks like a big playhouse built by children. Then comes the geeky part.

Note: Inspecting the site happens after every step. Even remodeling could be carried out in the very start.

Dream home # Step 2, 3, 4:

Rough-in plumbing, electrical wiring, installing HVAC

This is the time when contractors carry on with rough electrical wiring across the walls, floor and ceiling. Climate of your house is decided at this plight. Roofing and flooring is installed.

I knew that I picked cozy Italian bathroom and vents. This is when that I find that bathroom fixtures, lights, ducts, outlets, cable TV and telephone wiring, name it anything under sun that happens right here.

Building a customhouse  is way too elaborate. One’s lifetime dream is accomplished after all. It couldn’t be generic, when it comes to home building. It differs from one region to other.
