Differences between Traditional and Candid Wedding Photography

Blogimage

Weddings are one such event in a person’s life that must be celebrated with great joy and happiness. Be it your own wedding or someone else's, it brings out every bit of excitement. To have a look on such awesome memories at a later point of time, we take photographs. When it comes to photography at weddings, there are basically two broad types we can distinguish them into.

One is the traditional wedding photography and other is the candid wedding photography. Here is the difference between the two.

The Difference

The one word that can describe the difference between these two terms is “awareness”. The candid photography involves taking pictures of people when they are not aware that they are being shot while traditional photography allows the people to get ready for the click. A candid photographer is always looking for the perfect moment to take a snap. Their job is to capture every perfect moment of a wedding without letting anyone know and without disturbing the environment. Due to this reason candid photography is becoming more and more popular these days.

The traditional photography involves letting people know that they are being shot and allowing them some time to get ready for the picture. Generally Indian weddings involve traditional photography in which the photographer stands in front of the stage giving directions to people for a perfect pose.

More about candid photographs

This type of photography brings a natural touch in the picture where every action is real and no one is making a fake pose. When the subjects are unaware of the fact that they are being shot, they convey a more real and true emotion without any fear of posing like the traditional rules. On the other hand, traditional photography allows each and every subject to get shot in their choice of poses. Here everyone gets a little conscious and smiles the same way and every pair of eyes looks straight into the camera. This generally gives people a little bit of time to fix the makeup, set hair and get the perfect picture.

Apart from these two there is third type, which includes a mix of candid and traditional style of photography. This involves taking a traditional shot in a candid way. That is, the subjects are made to pose and act in such a way that it seems that they are unaware of the camera and in the meantime the photographer clicks a picture giving it a mix of both the styles.

Both the styles have their benefits and a professional photographer should be acquainted with both these styles so that a perfect picture can be captured. Rest depends upon the interests of the people. A photographer who is adept in candid photography should be made aware of what style of pictures you want and they will fill your album with the best of the pictures of the event.
