The breath is a physiological function that can be conscious or unconscious. It is affected by posture, movement and emotions. When we make the choice to breathe consciously it brings us back to the present moment, we become more alive, centered, and calm. As the Yogis have long recognized slow, deep and steady controlled breathing has profound physiological effects leading to physical and mental wellbeing.
