What we have done: installed an energy efficient thermal roof barrier to reduce energy consumption, reused an existing circa 1896 structure to help revitalize an area of downtown. green has also reused the majority of its restaurant equipment from refrigerators to booths/tables. green has a recycling dumpster for cardboard, a large bike rack, fair trade organic coffee, free range eggs, uses biodegradable packaging when possible, and will eventually install a cistern to capture rainwater for landscape maintenance. From the Business:Shisha Café was first opened in San Antonio in the spring of 2003. Designed after the ever-popular Hookah cafes in the Middle East, the concept of Shisha Café was relatively new to San Antonio. The original idea of Shisha Café was to provide a casual place for people to come and eat light food and smoke hookah, while playing chess or backgammon. In our early days of operation, Shisha Café only opened in the evenings and provided a comfortable spot for our customers. However, we began to grow and took over the two spaces: behind us and to the side. In 2008, we built our enclosed patio space to provide customers an outdoor area to enjoy food and hookah. Slowly, we quickly began to change and expand the menu to include grilled specialties of the Middle East as well as salads and dips.
