Rated 5.0 While vacationing in Utica, NY with my family we had a craving for Indian food. Never expected to find such a wonderful restaurant here. I travel all over and have tried many Indian restaurants. This was by far the absolute best Indian meal I have ever had!

Rated 3.0 This is pretty standard Indian food for the U.S., but it's pretty good. There aren't many Indian places around here, so I was skeptical to try it. It never looks very busy and it's in a pretty low key place. I had the food delivered, which I won't do again because I'm pretty sure the only guy working there had to bring it to me. But the food itself was tasty. The naan was excellent and they have several toppings. I had the rosemary added. I didn't pick anything too outlandish on my first try, but it was good if not spectacular. They have a pretty extensive menu, including some small bite appetizers. If I lived closer, this would be the kind of joint that I'd have on speed dial and pick up on the way home when I didn't feel like cooking and was tired of all the pseudo-Italian food around. You'll likely have leftovers, and you know those get better the next day. It's pretty cheap and very casual but seems clean. It's not the best I've ever had. It's not the worst I've ever had. And it's about the only option for Indian food around. So there you have it.

Rated 5.0 the restaurant menu is really good, they have wide variety of options. We were a group of 6 people and a tried a mix of vegetarian and non-veg items both here. The guy working there is very nice and mixing. He also gave us complimentary desert which we all loved. Overall had a very good and filling lunch.

Rated 3.0 As a reference, I have quite high standards to give 4 stars. A 4 star restaurant has to impress me a bit. I enjoy Indian food and would eat here again, but it is fairly expensive, especially the vegetable dishes. It seems even a relatively inexperienced cook could reproduce very similar items at home without intricate knowledge of Indian cooking.

Rated 5.0 Great menu, excellent food, attentive service - all in all, a great experience in New Hartford. No liquor license so bring your own wine if you don't want to get stuck sipping tea. Open on Sunday night - not many options other than chain restaurants.

Rated 5.0 We had a wonderful meal consisting of a few different soups on the menu which were the highlight of a week's trip to upstate NY; spicy and succulent chicken tandoori; chana masala; and a scrumptious rice pudding dessert. The atmosphere is casual and the service outstanding. There was good value for what we ordered.

Rated 5.0 My wife and I were in Utica around lunchtime on a Sunday and happened upon Taj Mahal. Being lovers of Indian food (vegetarian), we decided to give it a try. We were warmly greeted and received excellent and friendly service during our entire stay. They had a lovely and ample buffet with some of the tastiest Indian food

Rated 5.0 I have been to this place many times and they have been on point every time. The soups are great, the vegetarian options are plentiful, and the meat dishes are phenomenal. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The decor is low key, but I'll sit UNDER the table to eat when the food is this good.

Rated 5.0 Brought my family here after the movies everything was delicious. The staff was very and friendly. The owner even paid us a visit to see if everything was satisfactory. Thank you for a wonderful dinner, we will definitely be back.

Rated 4.0 Transplanted Brits like me love a curry-house. It's what we do when we eat out: GO SPICY. And whoever the chef is at the Taj Mahal, he's delightfully free-handed with the whole spices, especially the cardamom pods and cloves. I couldn't help but notice, too, that under every glass tabletop were interesting explanations of the many health benefits

Rated 5.0 I never dined at Taj Mahal under the old ownership. But under the new ownership Taj Mahal has become one of our go-to dining experiences. This is not your "every dish looks, smells, and tastes the same Indian takeout" that you will find in many restaurants. I've studied Indian cuisine at the Culinary Institute. And have traveled in India

Rated 5.0 I have eaten Indian food in more than 20 upscale restaurants in America, from NYC to SF, and paid much more for food in most of them that is inferior to every one of the dozens of dishes I have enjoyed at the Taj Mahal Restaurant in New Hartford. Their daily lunch buffet features a different mix of delicious meat...

Rated 5.0 I like to do buffets for Indian food as it gives me a chance to find what I like. Taj Mahal is clean, the food was tasty and not greasy like some of the other Indian restaurants in town. The selection on the lunch Buffett was limited, but was fresh. The owners were very attentive and friendly.

Rated 5.0 My family and I have been here several times. Their food is consistently delicious and a favorite among Indian cuisine in the area. They have friendly staff and delicious Naan. Prices are reasonable with a convenient location.

Rated 4.0 Had a very enjoyable meal on an early Saturday evening. Took out some students from Hamilton College in nearby Clinton. Uninspiring exterior but don't hesitate to enter! The two highlights were the Palak Paneer, a spicy, creamy spinach puree and the Chicken Vindaloo, with potatoes and a terrific sauce. And the Naan, of course! Nice portions and friendly service.
