Soma Sarkar, founder and director of "Arapan" is a Hindustani Classical Singer and a Professor of Education in the state of MD. She is a disciple of her Guru Shri Dilip Baran Sarkar. Shri Sarkar comes from the lineage of Ustaad Sharafat Hussain Khan and Pt.Jnan (Gyan) Prakash Ghosh to name a few.  Soma received her "Sangeet Visharad" degree with Distinction in 1994 and a Masters of Music in Music Education in 2003 from The New England Conservatory, Boston. Soma has been teaching Hindustani Classical Singing for over 15 years in DC/MD/VA and many other parts of the U.S. Lessons are designed for Adults and Children.
