    About Arumbu Tamil School

Arumbu Tamizh Palli (ARUMBU) is the first and currently the only Tamil language school in Stamford, Connecticut, proudly serving the communities of Fairfield and Westchester counties. Established in 2014 by Keetha Sivamohan and Durga JaiShiva, the school was founded with a heartfelt mission—to provide children growing up in the diaspora with the opportunity to learn and connect with the Tamizh language and culture. What began as a modest initiative with just over 10 students has grown steadily over the years. Today, Arumbu serves more than 45 students, reflecting the growing interest among families to preserve their linguistic and cultural roots. Classes are held with the enthusiastic support of parent volunteers, whose commitment ensures that every child receives personalized, engaging instruction rooted in traditional values. Arumbu’s teaching approach blends reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with a rich exposure to Tamil heritage, festivals, and values. Celebrations such as Pongal, Thamizh New Year, and storytelling events are integrated into the curriculum, making learning a joyful and immersive experience. More than just a language school, Arumbu Tamizh Palli is a community movement, nurturing identity, cultural pride, and a love for Tamil in the hearts of young learners.

Rated 5.0 We joined Arumbu when our son turned five. The foundation he received here made it easy for him to start reading and speaking Tamil with his grandparents. Highly recommend!
