How to Take Care of Your New Born Baby?

Motherhood for a woman is one of the greatest bliss of life. For most first time mothers, the experience is somewhat similar to that of a roller coaster ride. The high of holding the new born in your arms to the lows of sleep deprivation and physical trauma can be quite demanding on both - the mind and body. No matter how unwell or cranky you feel, you cannot avoid taking care of your new-born. If you are a new mom, you can ask your parents or friends for advice or consult your doctor for relevant advice.
The first few days after delivery are very critical for a baby as well as for the mother. Once the excitement of delivering a baby wears off, you gradually tend to realize the shock which your body has suffered after the delivery. Baby delivery is not an easy task. You shall experience problem in sitting, walking and even urinating for some days after the delivery too. Give yourself time, try to remain active and apply ice pack on the sore areas to get some relief. Once your body starts releasing Oxytocin, you can suffer further vaginal contraction and vaginal discharge. The problems are likely to get subdued within a period of few days. If the problem persists take your doctor’s advice immediately.
The real problem however starts when your baby comes home. In 60% of the cases, it has been noticed that every new born baby tends to suffer from jaundice. There is nothing to feel worried as this is temporary and is easily curable. For the first two weeks, keep your baby dry, which means till the umbilical cord dries and falls off; give your baby sponge baths. While lifting the baby, use your hand to provide support to the neck and the head region as these areas tend to be very fragile.
Breast feeding forms an important part of the nursing regime which a mother needs to undertake after baby delivery. Hold the baby in a 45 degree angle and cradle him in a semi upright position so that it becomes easier for him to suck the nipples. Do not panic if your baby does not respond properly. It takes time and patience. You can use a sterilize bottle and pump in some milk in the bottle and feed him later on.
The next important thing to take care is use of diapers. A healthy baby would require a change of diapers for at least 6-7 times during the day. If you notice yourself using less than three, instead of consult any of your local doctors, get the baby checked thoroughly through the pediatrician and rule out the chances of problems. Before changing the diaper, keep some tissue paper handy and wipe the baby clean with the wet tissues. Apply diaper cream to avoid rashes and try to clean your baby immediately after the bowel movement happens.
These are some of the basic steps which you need to follow to ensure your baby remains safe healthy and happy always.
