About Dr Shamik Bose Indian Classical Vocal
Trained in the legendary Senia Gharana under tutelage of the Late Sangeet Acharya Amaresh C. Chawdhury and in Binshnupur Gharana, Bengal's only Hindustani Classical gharana, Shamik Bose unifies the dhrupad and khayal styles of gayaki (singing style). Holding a PhD in geology, along with teaching experiences at the University of Oklahoma, he applies western thought to traditional Indian learning methods to reach out to students. Hailing from a musical family, Shamik Bose has had solo performances in India and USA and is eager to spread Indian musical awareness in the US.
