About Eye's Gallery

We specialize in handpicked and eclectic clothing, jewelry, home decor items and folk art from Latin America and all over the world. Isaiah and Julia Zagar, artists and urban pioneers, moved into the half-deserted area of Philadelphia known as lower South Street in 1968, having just completed a three year stint with the Peace Corps helping the native communities organize their crafts for foreign market in the highlands of Peru. Upon returning to the US, Julia and Isaiah brought with them knits and folk art from the Andes. They renovated a vacated building to live in- the first floor was their store, Eye's Gallery, that later expanded into three floors of unique folk art, furniture, clothing, jewelry, and housewares. At the time Isaiah shifted from painting to making mosaics and his work can be seen not only all around South Street and in various locations in Philadelphia but on the ceilings, walls and floors of Eye's as well.

Rated 5.0 I came upon this awesome space yesterday with my fiancé and 2 of our good friends. The window display brought us in and we were not disappointed! The women in the shop were so friendly and super helpful when I was interested in a very beautiful but hard to reach Day Of the Dead themed parasol hanging from the ceiling! I happy to say that treasure came home with me. I can't wait to visit again. I must visit for all who adore art from all cultures of the world.

Rated 5.0 After visiting the Magic Garden down the street, I knew I had to visit Eye's Gallery! What a treat for my friend from out of town to experience on a short trip to Philadelphia, this place is amazing and the staff is charming and attentive!! I bought some beautiful earrings as well... will definitely return next time I'm in Philly.

Rated 5.0 I love this place so much. It's dangerous for me even to look in the windows!!! They have the most amazing and unique clothing, jewelry, art, and housewares. It's one of my very favorite spots to shop...ever. And I love talking to the sweet ladies that work there. They are gems.
