K. S. Resmi is the foremost disciple of Dr. K. Omanakutty, and Smt Lalitha Shivakumar for Carnatic music (South Indian classical). She has 20 years of professional teaching experience and 35 years of continuous study of Carnatic music. She earned her BA and MA degrees in South Indian classical vocal music performance at the University of Kerala in India. Resmi taught Carnatic vocal music at the University of Madras as a full-time tenured faculty member of the Department of Indian Music from 2004-2007. Openings for students are now available for study of authentic Carnatic vocal, Bhajans, Carnatic Malayalam and Tamil Christian devotionals, film songs (languages Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, English).
She has released a series of digital music videos recorded in India and released worldwide with Eashane Koti Surya (2016), Marathaka Manivarn (2019), Puranapana Puranadham (2020), Om Nama Shivaya Gurave (2021), and Nara Jeevitham (2023). She was also the producer for her students of these music videos recorded in India and released worldwide on YouTube Baro Krishnayya (2021) & Namo Namo (2023).
K.S. Resmi is the founder of KARMA (Karnatic Music America), non-profit arts/culture organization centered in the Baltimore, MD area that operates throughout the USA in support of Indian classical musics.
