Marigold - Gateway to India is a unique, locally owned retail store that carries clothing for men, women, and children, as well as accessories, gifts, and home furnishings - all imported from India. Opened in 2007 by owner Lata Karna, Marigold is the result of her years of experience in the New York fashion industry and travels to India. Located in South Austin, Marigold is surrounded by other eclectic shops and restaurants and is stocked with vintage silk saris, kantha shawls, homespun cotton clothing, hand embroidered kids' tops, block printed cotton quilts, beaded shoes, and myriad other items - all at very affordable prices! More than a retail store, Marigold is a hub for many things Indian - from musical events to block printing workshops and ongoing Pilates classes, giving back to the community is an important part of the store's philosophy.
