About Mount Royal University

Mount Royal was founded in 1910 as a primary and secondary school. Mount Royal became a post-secondary institution in 1931 as Mount Royal Junior College (MRC) offering transfer courses to the University of Alberta (founded 1905) and later to the University of Calgary (founded 1966). In 2010 there were approximately 12,000 full and part-time credit students enrolled, with an additional 5,000 students in the Music Conservatory and over 50,000 individual non-credit course registrations per year. It offers four-year baccalaureate degrees, four-year baccalaureate applied degrees, four-year baccalaureate degrees (in partnership with Athabasca University), two-year diplomas, one-year certificates, university transfer, open studies/general arts and science, distance delivery courses and continuing education.
