About Palani C Kumar
I am a mridanga vidwan with over 40 years of professional experience in Carnatic classical music percussion. I am a disciple of renowned guru Kumbhakonam Rajappa Iyer and brother of Vidushi Palani Vijayalakshmi.I have accompanied leading carnatic musicians such as T. N Seshagopalan, M.Balamuralikrishna, Lalgudi Jayaraman, Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, Madurai Somu and K.V Narayanaswami. I taught mridangam lessons for the summer school at the S.V temple, Pittsburgh for two years and have toured the USA and Canada several times. I am an "A' grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan. I recently immigrated to the USA and will be teaching mridangam lessons in the Philadelphia/NJ area.
