Saptak School of Music, Austin, TX offers vocal lessons for beginners in Hindustani classical, Bhajan, Folk, and light music in Hindi and Bengali. Raka is a trained musician in Indian vocal music and performs regularly in and around Austin area. She was mainly trained by her mother, Aparajita Maitra, an All India Radio artist, and disciple of Pt. Shrikant Bakre and Pt. jagdish Prasad. Raka has received several awards and scholarships from Indian governmental and private organizations. She is a passionate teacher and enjoys providing a fun and interactive learning environment for all her participants.
