SARGAM-USA was founded in 1995 by gifted singer Mita Kundu to popularize Indian regional music and culture among Indian and American community. Over the years, as influence of SARGAM spread, so did the scope of the organization. SARGAM now conducts regular musical lessons in Portland (Oregon); for students of different origin and age. Music lessons are offered in person and online. Mita has performed throughout the US, Canada and Kolkata. She has been featured in All India Radio, Indian National and private TV channels. Mita Kundu, an internationally acclaimed singer, graduated in Rabindrasangeet (with Honors) in 1985 from Rabindrabharati University, Kolkata. Mita is a recipient of "Sangeet Prabhakar" and "Sangeet Bibhakar" degrees from Allahabad Prayag Sangeet Samiti, a renowned music school in Allahabad, India.
