About Swaranjali School Of Music

Swaranjali School of Music has been established by Swati Sharma who is a musician, a performer, and a music teacher in Northern Virginia. Swaranjali School of Music currently has students of all ages ranging from 5 years to 50 years. A prespective student can expect to learn all geners of Hindustani music including Raagas, Bhajans, Ghazals, Thumris and light music in Gwalior Gharana Style of singing. A special emphasis is put on the understanding of Sur and Taal and various techniques which makes Gwalior Gharana so unique. Depending on the amount of hard work a student is willing to put into Riaz, he or she is able to sing Raaga Aalap, Taan and sargam with ease and clarity and within the boundaries of the specific raaga. With Practice and time, SWARANJALI's students are able to perform Raagas, Bhajans, Thumris, Bollywood Karaoke and other songs which are considered light music. Swaranjali's students have performed at various competitions as well as at local temples and community organizations. Classes are held on a one-to-one basis. SWARANJALI SOM believes in the antient old Guru Shishya Parampara. Every student is unique in his or her musical capabilities and at Swaranjali, music instruction is based on the student's current knowledge or previous training in Hindustani classical music.
