My two Shilohs will be undergoing their final health testing preparatory to breeding at the Contra Costa Kennel Club show in Vallejo June 9, including echocardiogram, thyroid, and x-ray of hips and elbows. At age 3 they have matured so nicely and are such loyal, affectionate, intuitive and intelligent companions, as well as “easy keepers,” that, after conferring with their breeder/co-owners (Jennifer Stanley of Mountaintop and Augusta Wellington of Island Shilohs) I have decided it would be a waste not to breed them, given the limited gene pool for this new breed, which to me combines the best attributes of the old-time rough collies and the 1960’s German Shepherds. I will not be breeding any litters in the next two years but instead will be concentrating on raising and furthering the development of my three shepherd pups, two Shilohs, and one German.
