With busy schedules, today most of us have not time to hit the gym or get your running shoes on and go for those healthy walks. Not being able to go to yoga classes everyday or missing the early morning 6 a.m. alarm can be easily solved by practicing yoga at home. With a quick 15 minutes to decent half an hour sessions at home, beginners can practice yoga at home to stay fit and healthy.
Yoga practice at home should be done in a comfortable place. There are several ways of learning yoga at home. For instance, one can try the Triangle pose or corpse pose or forward bends in the privacy of your home. Yoga has its share of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual benefits on an individual. There were times when I felt distracted with my neighbor’s straight and elegant moves in my yoga classes. That is when I decide to do yoga at home. After all, yoga is about finding yourself and achieving that inner satisfaction and working on the poses at your own pace.
As a beginner, as your develop the awareness about your body and its movements, you will realize what works best for you and slowly tailor the practice to meet your needs. Over a period of time you’ll become your own best teacher and not need those yoga classes any more. Are you a beginner to yoga? Here are some points to keep in mind while learning yoga at home.
Pick the right time: Yoga practiced in the mornings are considered the best as it is when the energy levels of the body and high and fresh. However, you can choose your convenient time if you’re a beginner learning yoga at home. Ensure you do practice it immediately after consuming food. Yoga should be practiced at least 2-3 hours after your meal.
Get the ideal practice place: If you are practicing beginner yoga at home, then choose the right place to perform the exercise. An ideal yoga place should be quiet, with lot of space available to practice. You can also add in some scented candles and flowers to enhance the atmosphere while practicing yoga at home.
Opt for simple yoga outfits: Avoid tight and body-hugging outfits that can cause havoc to yoga practice at home. Beginners practicing yoga should choose loose, comfortable clothing that helps in easy stretches and other yoga postures. Keep aside those heavy jewelry and other accessories.
Start with warm up sessions: Every exercise, right from running to intense sports requires an initial warm up sessions. While you practice yoga at home, make sure to begin with a small warm before your intense yoga postures. This is an absolute must for every beginner while learning yoga at home.
Do not strain: Beginner yoga sessions can be difficult and pressurizing on the body. However, remember it’s your body and hence learn to be gentle with it. Start your yoga practice with simple postures and then slowly as the body becomes flexible proceed to postures that are difficult and challenging.
Be consistent: While you practice yoga at home, keep in mind to not get distracted by other sources and be consistent in your practice. Fix a particular time to execute your yoga and make it a part of your daily schedule.
Bring in variety: Yoga beginners can bring in a mixture of different yoga postures and techniques to get a hold of the exercises. Mix both body postures and breathing techniques to give your body a complete yoga package.
Check for online tutorials: Yoga beginners at home can research online for various yoga videos and tutorials. However, make sure to not complete follow the instructions and give enough time for your body to adapt to the different yoga postures.
