One of the most positive outcomes of globalization has been the global exchange of cultures, and food. The exposure to new international cuisines is a major boost for the food industry, and one of the cuisines to make an impressive mark has been Indian food.

The diverse range of dishes from India, coupled with an ever-increasing Indian population in the United States of America has helped Indian restaurants to thrive. The city of Orlando in Florida is one of the prime locations for Indian food in the country, and here are some of the city’s best Indian eateries.

Aashirwad

Located on Orlando’s prime tourist thoroughfare International Drive, Aashirwad has been frequently rated as one of the city’s prime Indian eateries. Featuring mostly North Indian preparations, the restaurant is particularly noted for its use of aromatic spices. Its menu includes vegetarian and tandoor preparations, along with a hefty amount of chicken, lamb and seafood dishes as well. Alcoholic beverages like beer and wine are also served here.

Saffron

Plaza Venezia’s Publix Super Market is home to Saffron, an Indian restaurant that has been making waves in the area. The chefs at Saffron believe in healthy Indian food, and prepare the dishes with natural ingredients and spices. The chefs steer clear of undesired elements such as artificial colorings and added preservatives, and are known for their quirky takes on classic Indian dishes. Its large menu features vegetarian, chicken, lamb and seafood preparations.

Tamarind

Located in Winter Park, Tamarind is an Indian restaurant set up by the owners of the aforementioned Aashirwad. While Aashirwad specializes in North Indian preparations, Tamarind is better suited to people who want to explore South Indian cuisine, even though its menu has preparations from various parts of India. Service may seem a bit slow, but the food is definitely worth the wait here. Prefabricated ingredients are a strict no-no here.

Bombay Café

This Doss Avenue cafeteria is a pure-vegetarian outfit from the owner of Aashirwad and Tamarind. Bombay Café specializes in serving street food from a variety of places across India. From generic Indian snacks such as vegetable pakora to chaat from the streets of Bombay to popular South Indian preparations such as Dosa and Idli, this café is a must visit for people looking to savor Indian street food.

New Punjab Indian Restaurant

Another International Drive eatery, the New Punjab Indian Restaurant was established in 1981 and is recognized as Orlando’s first ever Indian eatery. As its name suggests, the restaurant primarily serves preparations from the North Indian state of Punjab. Don’t let the underwhelming interiors get to you, the food is excellent, with alcoholic beverages served here as well.

These five restaurants in Orlando are frequented not just by Indians in the city. An increasing number of foreigners have shown an interest in Indian food served at these restaurants as
