From the Business:ASHA Ray of Hope was established by members of the South Asian community from many different backgrounds: physicians, educators, entrepreneurs, that became cognizant of how vulnerable South Asian women in the United States are to domestic violence. Cultural socialization, recent immigration, loss of traditional family support, lack of proficiency in English, as well as unfamiliarity with the laws and services of the United States keep many women confined in abusive situations. Asha Ray of Hope’s objective is to reach out to these women and provide information and support during their crises. To this end, Asha has introduced innovative intervention methods that combine advocacy practices of this country with culturally appropriate traditional techniques in a manner that offers South Asian women acceptable alternatives to living with violence. Asha Ray of Hope continues to centralize women’s needs and interests in all its organizational decisions and service provision. We create a safe place with a full range of culturally-sensitive, language-specific information, support, services, and advocacy for South Asian women facing abuse in their lives; and, we work to inform, actively engage, and mobilize the South Asian community in the movement to end violence against women. We embrace diversity and provide culturally sensitive services delivered with compassion and respect. Supporting South Asian women and their families to achieve safety; empowering our community to become stronger; and advocating for broader social change.Read more

From the Business:Gujarati Mandal of Central Ohio (GMOCO) is a non-profit organization within the Indian Community. It was founded in 1967 in Columbus, Ohio. GMOCO hosts an array of activities and programs throughout the year including Holi, Picnic, Navratri and Diwali/Year-end gala. All the activities of the organization are administered and organized by energetic/enthusiastic volunteers from the community. To formalize the workings of this organization, a constitution was presented to the general body, it was approved in December 1982. President and trustee board members are elected for a two-year term. Since 1983, Gurjari, a bi-annual publication is published by volunteer editors. Over the years the Gujarati Mandal has attracted outstanding scholars, writers, teachers and educators to speak before interested community members. The organization has participated in several Raas and Garba competitions across the US and won significant accolades. The Gujarati Mandal also twice hosted the regional Raas and Garba competition, organized by FOGANA (Federation of Gujarati Associations of North America) at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Columbus.Read more

The campus is adorned by a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Dakshinamurti, considered the first teacher of Vedic knowledge. Apart from Vedanta, classes on Sanskrit, Vedic chanting, Vedic astrology, Ayurveda, meditation and Iyengar Yoga are also offered.
