In 1997, Mohan Singh started India Star Restaurant with the help of his son Parvinder Singh (“Baba”), who moved from India in 1995. They introduced Des Moines to a variety of delicious North India dishes to the delight of many in the area. In 2001, Parvinder took over India Star as owner. He continues to attract loyal customers with his tasty North Indian cuisine and personal warmth. After serving at the Beaver Avenue location for several years, India Star moved to its current location in August 2006.The lunch buffet at India Star is served Monday through Saturday from 11:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The buffet offers a variety of North Indian dishes for $7.99 per person. The buffet includes fresh vegetables and fruit, Tandoori chicken and another meat dish, four vegetarian dishes, plain naan, and dessert.Evening dining at India Star is available Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. We offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers, soups, Tandoori dishes, seafood, chicken and lamb, vegetarian dishes, rice specialties, classic Indian breads, chutneys and sides, and desserts.
