About Indiwood Acting School

We are the only acting school in DFW that provides a platform for actors to train and perform in English and Hindi. Acting Coach Ross Hughes holds an Advanced Diploma in Speech and Drama from the ADK in South Africa, an Associate's Degree in Music from Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, and has trained with various dance instructors in South Africa and the USA. He has performed in numerous stage plays, television shows, and movies in South Africa and the United States. He is also a certified personal trainer through NASM, and has choreographed numerous dance shows including a Bollywood meets Shakespeare production of A Midsummer NIght's Dream (Dallas Junior Players, 2009). Mr. Hughes completed 5 years of basic Hindi studies at the DFW Hindu Temple and co-taught level 2 for 2 years. His Delhi-born wife, Deep Kaur, is fluent in Hindi, Panjabi, and English and has also lived in Mumbai and Bangalore; she holds a BSC. Our scene studies are drawn from Hollywood and Bollywood screenplays, Hindi and English language plays, and poetry in Urdu, Hindi, and English. Western actors may choose to focus solely on English language scenes if they prefer and they can also elect to perform Bollywood scenes in an English translation. Our theory base is the work of Konstantin Stanislavsky. We adapt his theories for screen acting. We help actors prep songs for musical theater and we also train lead singers of rock bands how to move and use gesture. On the physical side we have fitness classes for actors, and instruction in stage combat and movie fight scenes. We also coach business men and women in public speaking, and also fine-tune wedding speeches.
