About Puskar Paintings

Puskar was born Matthew Goldman, on January 1, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York. He spent the first two and a half years of his life on Staten Island. Of his earliest childhood experiences, he recalls painting with his father, Louis: There was quite a commotion in the ashram after that. But within a few days, Sai did a noble thing: he requested his followers (there were some sixty to seventy) to take diksa (spiritual initiation) from Srila Prabhupada. He then broke his remaining flock into small groups of about ten persons each and sent them to various ISKCON centers around the world. Puskar was sent to Los Angeles.
