Shree Satyanarayan Puja is a puja or worship which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (the Preserver), one among the great Hindu trinities. The word “Satyanarayan” is an amalgamation of two words, ‘Satya’ means truth, ‘Narayan’ means the highest and ultimate form of being or the supreme man; that means Lord Vishnu is the personification of the truth.

Varalakshmi Vratham is an auspicious festival in India celebrated by the married Hindu women. It is an auspicious day to perform puja/homam to become rich and prosper in life. Bhima Ratha Shanti (70th Birthday) is the marriage ceremony performed for the couple where the husband has completed 70 years of age and the 71st year has started. It is usually organized by the couple’s children or in-laws or relatives.

Sashtiapthapoorthi (60th birthday ceremony) is the marriage ceremony performed for the couple where the husband has completed 60 years of age and the 61st year has started. It is usually organized by the couple’s children or in-laws or relatives.

Upanayanam Ceremony is also called as the White thread (Poonal Kalyanam) ceremony. It is done to the Boy Child of the family when he is ready to learn the vedic mantras and start with a new journey in his life growing up as an adult. The Upanayanam ceremony can be directed at the age of seven. Normally our actions can be divided into excellent, good and very good. To improve the spiritual nature in the boy in an extraordinary manner then, the sacred thread ceremony is directed at the age of 7, 9, 11 can be considered as excellent, very good, good.

Shukla Paksha Panchami during Sawan month is observed as Nag Panchami. Usually Nag Panchami day falls two days after Hariyali Teej. Currently Nag Panchami falls in month of July and August in English calendar. Women worship Nag Devta and offer milk to snakes on this day. Women also pray for the wellness of their brothers and family.

The word “Ugadi” is a combination of two words— “Yuga” (age) and “Adi” (beginning). An auspicious occasion, the day is celebrated with much pomp and gusto. People from every sphere of the society enjoy the day by wearing new clothes and gorging on delicious delicacies. Prayers are offered in temples to welcome the new year while people clean their homes and decorate them with Rangolis—a traditional way to decorate floors by creating various patterns with coloured rice or flower petals.

Lord Ganesh also known as Ganapati is the first one to be worshipped before commencing any Puja or starting any event viz., Vidyarambham (initiation to formal education ), marriage, house warming, travel or starting any venture. He is the remover of obstacles. By worshipping Lord Ganesh the obstacles are cleared and eventually blessed with success and prosperity.

Lakshmi Puja is a combination of five deities which includes Lord Ganesha, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati and Lord Kuber. It is said that Goddess Lakshmi is god of wealth and beauty. She is also the wife of Lord Vishnu and bhakts offer gifts and grants for her auspicious blessings. In the evening, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Vishnu and Lord Kuber are worshipped. Idol of Goddess Lakshmi must be installed either on lotus or a swastika drawn with consecrated rice.

Namakaranam is a traditional naming ceremony of a new born child. It is conducted after performing the ‘Jatakarma’ samskara, either on the 12th /16th /20th/ 22nd day . The father holds the child on his lap and writes the name with his fingers wrapped by Dharba Gaddi (sacred grass) on the rice grains filled in a plate. Any gold item like a ring or a silver may be used to write the name. It is traditionally believed that Boy’s name should have letters in even numbers and Girl’s name should have odd numbered letters. Punyaha vachanam is a purification ritual performed after the birth of a child, death of a family member and also prior to a Puja performed on any happy occasion. Mantras are chanted and holy water sprinkled in the place, house, land, over the people performing and participating in the Puja and also on the items used for the Puja.

The Sumangali Pooja is conducted to receive the blessings of ancestral ladies considered to be Sumangalis. Ladies who lived a prosperous life with their husbands and passed their life(whose husband is still living) are called Sumangalis. This pooja is known to enhance good fortune and ensure familial bliss. Married women of a family do this pooja for a prosperous married life. Sumangali puja is also performed to manifest gratitude to the Sumangalis. This Sumangali puja is done to invoke the blessings of ancestral women of the family who have gone the earth plane. By performing this puja, it gratifies the unfulfilled longing of these women, and they, in turn, bless the family.

There is a 10-day period after the death, during which the immediate family follows Hindu mourning customs. They refrain from visiting the family shrine and are prohibited from entering a temple or any other sacred place. This is because they are considered to be spiritually impure during this mourning period. After the shrahdhah ceremony, the family typically returns to work in anywhere from one to three weeks, depending on personal preferences.

The Varushabdigam ceremony is performed during the end of the first year after the death of a person. Immediately after death the kartha has to perform Oonam, sodha Kumbam & masikam for all 12 months which ends with the Varushabdigam ceremony denoting the end of the karma.

Seemantham, also known as Pumsavana Seemantham and 'Srimantha' in Karnataka is an important traditional ritual in the South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, carried out during odd pregnancy months of 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th. The word "Seemantham" refers to parting the hair just above the eyebrow where the Goddess of Wealth, Sri Mahalakshmi, resides. This leads to the practice of applying kumkum to the parting in order to propitiate the Goddess Sri Lakshmi such that when a woman delivers a child, she is considered the embodiment of the Goddess Lakshmi herself.
