About Bethel Lutheran School

Bethel Lutheran School was established in 1964 by Bethel Lutheran Church. This initial outreach to the young families in our community has grown into a vibrant school with programs for students who are 2 years old through 5th grade. Our church and school are bonded together in close association and support. We continue to welcome new families from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds. Our mission is to teach children to be active learners and Christian leaders in a hands-on, safe and supportive environment. There are many factors to consider when selecting a school that is a good fit for your child’s primary years. Our experienced staff commits to creating engaging lessons, encouraging faith development and motivating the children towards becoming lifelong learners and leaders from preschool through 5th grade. Our school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran School Association (ELEA), and Christian School Association (CSA). We are happy to serve the children and families of Santa Clara Valley.

Rated 5.0 My child has been at Bethel since pre-school. The small class size, the loving teachers the enrichment programs, Library, art, music, p.e., computer, there is no other school like it. Believe me I have looked because we are moving out of the area and I can not find any school that comes close. All the teachers know my child and love her. The office staff and Principal are wonderful too. This school has been the perfect place for my child. Like all schools even Bethel has their struggles but they are willing to listen to suggestions and the principals door is always open!!!!!!

Rated 5.0 My kids attended the preschool and Kindergarten there. The teachers are very friendly, caring and loving. My kids received high attention from the teachers. The school is very clean, has a nice play ground with lots of shades. The snacks are very nutritious, including milk, yogurt, egg, fruits, crackers, pancake. The preschool teaches phonic and music. Kids get to do lots of hands on activities. The class size is small. Overall, the school is a very friendly environment. Kids love to go to school everyday.

Rated 5.0 We know the school very well as long time church members and staff. We've enjoyed seeing so many children thrive and prosper over the years.

Rated 5.0 If you are looking for a small, academically challenging, yet personable school, look no farther! Bethel is your place. Classes range between 7 and 11 students in size (in 2014). Students get used from an early age on to making public presentations to their peers, students from other grade levels, and parents. My younger daughter attended Bethel for her last two years of elementary school and now is a middle schooler. Bethel has prepared her well for the challenges ahead - in terms of self-discipline, work habits, honesty, independent work, group study, etc. Enrichment classes (music, PE, art, computer) are taught by specialized teachers. Bethel's stated goal is to help children grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Bethel teachers seek to introduce children and families to the Christian faith, but Bethel sees itself as a school for all people. Families do not have to be church members to enroll their children.

Rated 5.0 Such investment in their students! Really had a personal relationship with all my teachers and other staff members! Great well-rounded education - focus on arts and personal character development while still preparing me for continued success after graduating - now I'm a student at UC Berkeley studying Computer Science! Amazing community that I'm still a part of.

Rated 5.0 My children attended Bethel Lutheran School for two years and to say we loved it would be an understatement. This school is one of silicon valleys hidden jewels. Many of the teachers have been there long term which really says something. They are kind and caring not only to the children in their class but to all of the kids on campus. I knew every teacher by the end of two years and they knew my children by name. The teachers and school have very high standards for the childrens academics. I was amazed at the content of the homework as it was challenging yet totally appropiate. My son was painfully shy and Jody Volk a preschool teacher helped him to find his voice. By the end of the year he was full of confidence and played with other children without any difficulty.

Rated 5.0 My son has attended the school for 4 years. This is such a nice hidden jewel in Cupertino. Here is what I love about the school: - Well-balanced curriculum: My son learns to do beautiful writing and now he totally enjoys reading. The school also offers Music, Art, Computer and PE classes. - Low teacher/student ratio: There are 12:1 in my son's class. He gets a lot of attentions from the teacher. The public schools just can't beat that. - Nice/Upgraded facilities: The school just remodeled children's restrooms and they continue making renovations throughout the campus every year. - Teachers/Staff: They're all loving and caring. They truly care about my son's well-being and willing to work with parents. Staffs are nice and sweet too. They all know my son's name. It's such a nice/cozy feeling. - PE activities: The PE teacher Mr. Rosa always organizes extra activities such as soccer, baseball, and basketball games during the recess time and lunch break. My son totally loves it and those make him look forward going to school every day. I truly appreciate the extra efforts and you know how crucial it is to burn those boys' energy.. ; ) - Tuition, It's fairly reasonable comparing to the other private schools.

Rated 5.0 Bethel Lutheran School has been a wonderful school for my children to attend. We've had a total of five years in the school and each year, I've been very happy with the teachers, the environment, and the education my kids are receiving. The school prides itself on a low student to teacher ratio (typically, the classroom sizes we've had were about 13 kids), and it's a huge plus. It's an advantage when a single teacher can have enough resources to effectively manage the classroom, get to know each child well, and give great parent teacher conference/feedback, along with figure out unique ways to engage and further challenge my kids if they see the need. As a parent, it's a challenge to let go of your little ones to attend preschool or elementary school, when they play on the big playground with all the seemingly bigger kids. The teaching staff is very understanding and helped the transition from pre-school go extremely well. My kids love Monday mornings when they get to go to Bethel.

Rated 5.0 I write this review for the preschool part because I don't know clearly for elementary school. My son is 3 years old. He attended Bethel Lutheran School for one year. This school is a wonderful, amazing school. I have visited over 10 preschools before I chose this school. I also visited two good review preschools recently because some changes happened in my family. We tried to find another preschool instead near our home. But I found it was hard to find one. So finally we decided to stay in Bethel even though it is a little bit far away from our home and we need to overcome some difficulties. Here are some reasons we love Bethel very much. Bethel offers very balanced curriculum. My son plays well here and learns a lot. We have two parent conference until now. The teacher showed us a paper with a lot of developing measure description. Then she told us how well my son behaves for each of them. The second time we could see the improvement well. The teacher also told us which one is my son's weakness that needs to be improved in the future. I believe Bethel will help my son to set up a good foundation.

Rated 5.0 If you are looking for a school where your child: - thrives in his/her preschool - elementary years - is treated with love, kindness and respect - learns to treat others with love, kindness and respect - is as academically advanced as he/she is morally enriched - develops a lifelong love for learning and striving to do good... ..then look no further than Bethel Lutheran School. From the day you join the school, you will really be part of the family and will be treated like family. From the well-sculpted academic curriculum - STEM and STEAM focused, to the music classes, art lessons, numerous opportunities for children to present in front of the school, building leadership abilities - there is nothing I would change in the three years that my daughter has been here.

Rated 5.0 This review is for the preschool only, my child has been here for 3 years and it has been absolutely amazing. Here are some factors from our experience at Bethel: - Nurturing and loving environment: this school is truly a community and has become part of our family. Yes this is a faith-based school but it is open to anyone regardless of their beliefs, they do not force anything on kids and just show so much love. - Teachers and Staff: there is never a shortage of teachers in each classroom and I really appreciate that they always have 2-3 teachers consistently present with a full class (around 16 kids?). The teachers have been around for so long, turnover is low which goes to show the level of commitment they have and also how the school appreciates their teachers. We also have gotten to know other staff such as the office staff, librarian, P.E., music teacher and they are really the best. When I drop off or pick up my child, every staff that passes (even I dont know their names) will stop and say hello to us and specifically say my child's name. We also love Principal D.W. who always makes an effort to talk to us, hear our concerns and is very involved in the students lives. - Activities: my child loves weekly chapel, music class, P.E. and other fun activities Bethel hosts such as walk-a-thon, halloween event, end of the year carnival. Year round activities are well organized and fun for the famiy - Curriculum: good balance of academics and play. They have taught my child and helped master a lot of preschool concepts and prepare for kindergarten
