"I have had experience in Indian Classical Music for the past 15 years. Throughout these 15 years, I have performed in many concerts with my students and have judged numerous music competitions. Generally, I try to explain the theory (themes, meaning, context) before teaching the song. I make sure each student gets one-on-one attention so everyone is on the same pace in class. Additionally, I tend to make my classes interactive and incorporate interesting activities to help students understand the material better. These strategies have worked well with my students and I take student feedback seriously to improve the quality of my classes.
Most importantly, I believe that music is an important source of our culture. I believe that by teaching Carnatic music, I have the opportunity to teach students the values of our traditions and help them understand the divinity in this art form. By focusing on these strategies, I have been able to successfully tutor numerous students throughout these 15 years and I intend to continue to help future students understand the beauty of Carnatic music"
