About Oak Tree Presbyterian Church

Oak Tree Presbyterian Church began as a shared dream. A diverse group of individuals from the Oak Tree section of Edison yearned for an ethnically integrated community church to bring the "Good News" of Jesus Christ to the local communities of Edison and South Plainfield. Nurtured in its infancy by both the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen and the former Marconnier Reformed Church, the new congregation began worship in September of 1963 at the Oak Tree Elementary School (presently JFK's Hartwyck) with the Rev. Dr. Chester M. Davis as the founding pastor. In 1964, a committee was formed to purchase the property on Plainfield Road. After generous financial assistance from the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen, the Presbytery of Elizabeth and its ninety members, the property was purchased. Oak Tree Church is a warm and welcoming community of faith. We seek to grow together in Christ and serve our community. We believe in God's love for all creation. We believe God calls us to social witness, reflecting the Gospel message through Outreach. We believe that through Christ's example, we are called to forgive and reconcile with each other.

Rated 5.0 If you're looking for a place that accepts you for who you are, then come to Oak Tree Presbyterian. This is the most "giving" organization I have ever been affiliated with. You can find a mix of tradition, spirituality, and forward looking attitudes. Automatically, without pressure, you feel like you've come home.
