I have over twenty years of experience in the industry and have been a licensed real estate agent since 1998. I have two basic premises that I work under. Number one, mortgage lending makes no common sense. There are series of arbitrary rules and guidelines that mortgage lenders and underwriters publish and a borrower has to simply meet those guidelines in order to get the lender to fund the loan. The second premise that I work under is that the underwriter and the lenders job is actually to kill your loan. Banks are not in the business of making loans, they're in the business of killing loans. If we can figure out how to prevent the lender and the underwriter from killing your home loan then you may get a funded loan, which is the whole purpose of working with a mortgage lender, or mortgage broker. I give free information all day every day, that's my business model. If I transact with you then I will get paid a commission that the lender will pay and that will be incorporated into any quotes that I provide. I am based in Oakland California and transact loans all over the state. With first time home buyers, or people who are new to the mortgage process, there is generally a series of mortgage 101 sessions that I will give in person or over the phone to bring each individual up to speed. Part of the process that is important is educating each client so that they are aware of how the mortgage process works, and so that they're not left in the dark. My goal is not to lead anyone in the dark through the process, but to enlighten them as to what the process entails and how the process is going to work to their benefit. Vic Joshi as our mortgage broker when buying our house. He and his staff were very responsive and they helped guide us through our rather difficult closing process. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was super friendly and explained everything we needed to know about getting a mortgage and patiently answered all of our questions. After reviewing all our options, he found a lender with very good rates. Throughout the process, he coordinated with our realtor and the escrow office to make the process go as smoothly as possible.
