Charlotte Chess Center & Scholastic Academy

This is a perfect class for students starting from scratch. In this class students will learn the movements of all the chess pieces as well as some basic chess concepts such as castling, check and checkmate. By the end of the class students should be able to confidently move pieces, castle and understand the basic difference between check and checkmate. All classes are conducted over an 6 week period, where students come once per week, every week.

This class will pick up where chess 101 left off. Students will review the concepts of check and checkmate then move on to more advanced concepts such as stalemate, piece values and types of checkmates (i.e. Ladder Checkmate). Students will also learn and practice notation. Perfect for students who know how the pieces move, but nothing else. All classes are conducted over an 6 week period, where students come, once per week, every week.

This class will pick up where chess 102 left off. Students will review the concepts learned in chess 102 and begin to learn various types of basic chess tactics including: Forks, Pins, Skewers, Double Check, and Discovered Attacks. Tactics are a very important part of chess and this classes will be very important to beginners looking to take their chess to the next level. After this class students will have the basic knowledge to play in tournaments at a novice level. All classes are conducted over an 6 week period, where students come, once per week, every week.

We will be offering classes where our more advanced students can learn along with National Master Peter Giannatos (and occaisionally other CCCSA Masters). His professional knowledge combined with years of experience can give our students what they have been lacking for years. These Master classes give our higher level students a chance to train on a regular basis. All classes are conducted over an 6 week period, where students come once per week, every week.
