About Graceland Prairie Dental

Graceland Prairie Dental is the oldest continuing dental practice in Des Plaines. It was originally started by Dr. John M. Hannon after he graduated from Northwestern Dental School in 1935. He practiced near the Des Plaines Theater on the upper floor and across the hall from Dr Fahey, the founder of Fahey Medical Clinic. Dr Hannon was drafted during the war and then returned to Des Plaines. In 1950, he built a new office at 779 Pearson St. Dr. Hannon practiced quality dentistry for generations of Des Plaines folks. In 1980, at the age of 70, Dr Hannon happily retired and asked Dr. Barry to continue his practice. Dr. Barry was Dr. Hannon’s dentist. In 1996, the old building was sold and necessitated a move to the old O’Brien’s Florist space at the corner of Graceland and Prairie. The name of the practice was changed to Graceland Prairie Dental in 2010 with the addition of two associates. The name conveys location and our emphasis on natural solutions and concern for the environment. We continue the tradition of helping the patient through their dental work and delivering high quality results. The history of this practice spans more than 70 years, to all original patients from Dr. Hannon to Dr. Barry since 1980 and now to Dr. Grandinetti.
