The only reason I docked them one star is because their prices seem high and they charge for any extra bread or rice you might need, which is a little annoying. As always the food was excellent but the service in A2B has been below par and my recent visit, it was horrible. We ordered 4 things ( 2 each of 2 items to be precise) they brought each one seperately. With long gaps. The last persons order was brought when all others had finsihed eating already. The servers were appearing to be confused and serving with bit of chaos. The appetizers were served without any sauce. They need more servers for peak time and better managed service Revisiting after many months. Had much better service this time. Our server was excellent, although they missed beinging some side items . And Bhaturas were awesome. A2B dosas are always the best!!

We ordered South Indian Dali and it’s no up to the standard. We felt the white rice itself was something like odd. Also the portion of each sides/gravy served half of that small cup. We also ordered panner tikka masala and it’s the worst dish we ever . We are like what is this really A2B ?

The food is pretty good but it's expensive and the curries and chutneys they give on the side are too small. You have to keep asking them to bring more quality so you can finish your dosa or bhatura and even they only keep providing small quantities.

The ambience was quite comfortable. I went with my friends and we loved the food there. This is the first time trying such South Indian cuisine. We had our stomach full and taste was amazing. We tried the schezwan noodles, chole bhature and chilli fries.

Hands down the best, delicious and authentic South Indian food we've had lately. Top notch service, especially the lady who welcomed us was very generous and patient. South Indian thali, appam and rava dosa are a MUST try.

I visit A2B almost every week and am consistently pleased with the quality of their South Indian vegetarian food. The service is quick, the food is excellent, and even on busy days, the wait for seating is minimal. My favorite is the thali, followed by their dosas, idli, and rush lunch. I haven't tried their Indo-Chinese dishes yet, as I'm a big fan of the South Indian offerings. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the experience.

Excellent food and prompt delivery of food. However, avoid going there during rush hour. The check-in guy literally asked us to hurry up with the coffee and pay when our coffee had just arrived after lunch. I mean it and am not making up things. I get it there was a wait but never has any restaurant told to finish food fast. Do want to mention though that our waitress Sindhu was extremely nice person. Had it not been for the check-in guy, it would have a good experience

This is a very basic restaurant that has high end prices with serving sizes that are just not enough for what they charge. It is good for someone looking to try different South Indian dishes and their North Indian menu also looks extensive. If you visit, keep an eye on the costs and portion sizes.

I have a few concerns based on my recent visits. Seating Allocation : For the open-side seating, the staff consistently claims these tables are reserved. However, during my last two visits, I noticed that these seats remained unused. Despite requesting them, we were still denied access, which feels unfair and unwelcoming. Food Quality and Pricing: Over the past few visits, I’ve observed a decline in food quality while prices have increased. For example, the Chole Bhature—priced at $18—had such a small portion of chole that it wasn’t enough to pair with the bhature. When I raised this issue, the staff offered complimentary chole, but I find this unacceptable given the price. Another disappointment was the Chikoo Milkshake, which used to be a favorite. On my last visit, it tasted bland, as if it was made with vanilla ice cream, and the distinct chikoo flavor was missing. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously to improve both service and food quality.

I recently visited here and tried their Dosa, Parota and Set Dosa. The dosas were decent, but nothing exceptional—just average in flavor and texture. However, the Parota was a standout! It was wonderfully crispy and delicious, definitely the highlight of the meal. The chutneys served on the side were a bit lacking in quantity for the size of the dosas, and unfortunately, they were served a little cold. That said, the overall experience was still quite pleasant. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. I’d definitely return for those amazing Parotas and the cozy vibe, though I’d hope for a bit more warmth and chutney next time.

The Idly was soft and fluffy, the Medhu Vada perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the Rava Kichidi was flavorful with just the right blend of spices. The Pongal was creamy and comforting, hitting all the right notes of authentic South Indian taste. And to top it all off, the Madras Filter Coffee was absolutely amazing—aromatic, strong, and served just the way it should be. A delightful experience from start to finish!

Today we dined out for a Sat lunch with their satisfying South Indian thali offering. 2020: A2B has taken lots of precautions for dining both indoors and outdoors. A2B has one the most authentic south-indian food in DMV area. Their service has improved, the staff go out of the way to recommend dishes and get feedback. The dishes are tasty and served hot. The seating is well designed to handle groups and large families.

The taste and quality of the food is very good at this restaurant. Their staff are very helpful, and the customer service is great. Highly recommend this place.

Wonderful meal!

Awesome authentic taste. Thali meals was outstanding. Sunday evening at 645 pm had less than 5 minutes waiting to be seated and food served in 4 minutes. Updated Dec 2025. Food quality remains exactly the same when started.

After a long time had a great tasting vegetarian food. Tried sambar vadai, poor masala and parotta. Everything tasted great. Perfect spice levels for everyone to try. I can't visit frequently since it is 2+ hours drive.

Being a vegetarian living in Herndon, this is one of the restaurants we usually eat at. The restaurant is clean, usually reasonably busy (meaning you don't have to wait for evet to get a table). The taste of the food was above par. Close to South Indian taste and not the Americanised version you get at most places. The selection of food was like most other places. All the standard stuff was on the menu. There were a few specials but nothing stood out. Prices were a little premium for the portions. Time for food to come out depended on how busy the place was as long as you don't ask for Thali. That will take forever to come out. If you are hungry, don't ask for Thali.

LOADS OF VEGETARIAN OPTIONS!! I’ve tried various Indian restaurants in NOVA, and this one is okay-good. Obviously, it cannot match the A2B restaurant in India, but it’s solid!! I’ve ordered the South Indian Thali, Chole, and other dishes. Very delicious! Some dishes are hit or miss. However, I feel that prices have increased and quantity has decreased overtime. Services is okay, could be better. Sometimes, the food takes long to arrive. Otherwise, definitely should try!!

Very tasty vegetarian food with Jain food options

Adyar Ananda Bhavan in Herndon is a gem for South Indian vegetarian cuisine! Our experience - first - was delightful from start to finish. The idlies were soft and fluffy, paired perfectly with a trio of chutneys and piping hot sambar, bursting with authentic flavors. The appams were beautifully made—crispy on the edges and soft in the center—accompanied by a delicious vegetable stew and coconut milk that elevated the dish to perfection. And of course, the highlight of the meal was the Madras filter coffee. Served in a traditional tumbler and dabara, it was rich, aromatic, and the perfect way to end the meal. A2B delivered on both taste and authenticity, and I’ll definitely be returning for more! Highly recommended for anyone craving an authentic vegetarian South Indian dining experience.

Had a pleasant experience at Ananda Bhavan. This was our first time here as we were visiting DC. We were seated fairly quickly and our food arrived sooner than expected which is nice. I liked the dosas but I was underwhelmed by mysore masala dosa (didn't taste like Mysore I have had before several times and masala also was absolutely bland). Noodles were good and so was the filter coffee. Even though service was quick but it seemed like servers were all over the place, rushing through kitchen and tables without any orderly fashion. One server even nudged our table while rushing which dropped the salt dispensers, he looked back but didn't apologize and kept going. Strange. The lady taking our order was very sweet and friendly (cheers to her).

Great place for south indian food

Visited on New Year’s Day, the restaurant was understaffed to manage the crowd. We ordered the South Indian Thali; the taste was decent, but the portion size felt inadequate for $22. They should increase the rice and add few more items. The South Indian coffee was stronger than usual, which might not suit everyone. Overall, there’s room for improvement in portions and handling peak-time service.

Food was good. The servers were a bit strange. Our dishes were dropped off on the southwest corner of the table and we had to pass it along to the right spot! Wasn't a big issue since we were at a 4 person table.

My go to restaurant near Washington. Perfect South Indian cuisines.. I loved their Pongal, poori, idiyappam, idli, literally everything. Can’t wait to go again.

Sanjana (our server) is amazing. She went out of her way to get us limes for our drink and extra napkins. Service was so fast, and so welcoming. Food is also delicious. My family comes here a lot for good dosas and other south Indian staples. Good restaurant quality food! Thanvir is also an awesome server!

We really had good time having lunch here. Food was tasty and delivered so quickly hardly have to wait. Dosa, veg thali, papad, idli , medu wada, noodles all tasted good. Kids loved food too. Place is nice. It get little noisy during rush hour but spacious and good tasty food. Service was good too.recently we had it again and we live it

We were a group of 12 people, booked the mini banquet table for lunch. Food was delicious, highly recommend for south indian vegetarian options. We ordered a la carte menu, food was served fast not much waiting time at all.

I got the mild mushroom vegetarian curry, the naan, and mango puree drink. The whole meal is spectacular. Also, the service is impeccable and friendly. I had an enlightening and memorable experience. Went to A2B service was good. Ambience and atmosphere was nice. Ordered the Masala Dosa 9/10 Paneer Masala Dosa 7/10 Chole Bhatura 9.5/10 The food was good but the prices were high An average dosa costs $17

Excellent food! Very tasty and delicious. Food not normally found in regular ’indian’ or even ‘southern Indian’ restaurants, like idi appam and appam.

We went for an early dinner and we were surprised when our order came out almost immediately. The dosas were also cold. This was an unusual experience but when we were leaving everyone had the same opinion. A real let down. It was not what I've come to expect and we will try again. But just a warning if you're thinking about going right when they open for dinner

I gave 4* because it is a little too pricey for the food they serve. The quality, service and atmosphere is really good but it just leaves a dent on your pocket..

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Gee pongal has a looooooot of gee(floating). Should reduce the amount of gee for better health.
