Chinmaya Mission of Orlando is offering Mrudangam classes taught by Venupuri Srinivas of the Navarasa Academy. Navarasa academy was started in the year of 2004. The classes are conducted every Sunday at Chinmaya Mission Orlando from 1pm onwards. Sri. M.R. Venupuri Srinivas started as a child prodigy, playing Kanjira at a tender age of one year and eight months in Tirupathi. Srinivas plays Mridangam, Kanjira, Ghatam, Tabala, Dholak and Western Percusions as well as Konnakol. Srinivas is one of the most sought after Mridangam Artist for Bharathantaym and has composed music for dance dramas, fusion, and contemporary dance. Srinivas is presently living in Tampa, Florida and runs an institution called Navarasa Academy of Performing Arts. He has been teaching Mridangam, Tabla, Ghatam, and various percussion instruments for more than 10 years in Tampa.
