About Jyoti Prakas Tabla Teacher

Jyoti Prakas resides in the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles, and began his musical career at childhood from his father, Sri Nagendranath, and later with Pandit Brojen Biswas and Sri Sumantra Guha. As his passion and experience playing Tabla progressed, he came under the guidance of Pandit Abhijit Banerjee, one of the world’s top ranking Tabla players. Jyoti Prakas has participated in numerous music concerts in Kolkata and performed in other cities of India and the US with world famous vocalist Pandit Jasraj and Kathak dancers like Shrimati Sova Kosar. He has also played with Pandit Keshav Ghinde, Flute, and Pandit K. Sidhar, Sarod. He performed with Kathak dancer Pandit Chitresh Das and tap dancer Jason Samuel Smith in Monterey Bay University, California. He also played with David Tasroff, Sarod, and Paul Livingstone, Sitar. He has participated in community programs organized by the San Diego Museum and delivered lecture demonstrations in La Jolla Elementary School, San Diego. He worked as an Assistant Music Director for a telefilm on Child Psychology for Kolkata Television. He was honored to play in the prestigious EMMY AWARD in 2005.
