Lakshmi Narayan Mandir commonly referred to as the “Northside Mandir” originated from very humble beginnings. As families migrated from the Caribbean region mainly Trinidad and Guyana and settled in Houston there was a deep desire to continue the religious practices and cultural traditions that was an integral part of life in the respective home countries. Through the dedication and philanthropy of a few families a parcel of land was purchased and a small building was built to provide the community with a sacred place to gather in prayer and observe all the traditional hindu festivals. Today over two plus decades later the mandir is not only a place of worship, but it has become an important focal point for the Hindu community to meet and interact. Through the years the building has constantly been upgraded and devotees now have a more comfortable environment to develop their spiritual consciousness and understanding of Sanatan Dharma and Vedanta whilst maintaining culture and tradition.
