Saravanapriyan is the senior disciple of Lalgudi G. J. R. Krishnan. Lalgudi G.J.R. Krihshnan is the torch-bearer of the illustrious and famed Lalgudi baani, pioneered and established by his father and Guru Shri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. Saravanapriyan learnt violin initially from Smt. Komalavalli Srinivasan and later under Shri. Tiruvarur Balasubramaniam. Subsequently he had the opportunity to learn from veteran Shri. Tirupparkkadal Veeraraghavan. Since 2001, he has been fortunate to train under Lalgudi Shri G.J.R. Krishnan. Saravanapriyan’s exposure to several distinguished violin styles has made him appreciate the intricacies and finer nuances of violin playing. He has received awards for Best Violinist from VDS Arts Academy and Mylapore Fine Arts (1992), India. In addition, Saravanapriyan is also a competent and talented vocalist. Saravanapriyan’s style of violin playing is noted highly for acute aesthetic sensitivity to music, tonal perfection and sparkling creativity combined with a deep spiritual quality and a highly proactive support while accompanying.
