About Ranendra Das Tabla Artist

Ranendra earned his Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Performance from the University of Bridgeport (UB) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He studied Western Classical music along with Indian Classical music, with Tabla as his major instrument. He also studied Piano, Marimba, and other percussion instruments while attending UB. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. His graduate thesis discussed the interdisciplinary links between music, storytelling, astronomy, and physics.Ranendra performed for President Barack Obama at the Martin Luther King Jr., Memorial Dedication in Washington, DC in 2010. Among his notable collaborators are Pandit Ramesh Mishra, Snehasish Mozumder, Abhik Mukherjee, Ben Stivers, Steve Gorn, and Isaac Hayes. He has performed at Madison Square Garden, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Symphony Space in New York City, and he has played numerous Jazz and Music festivals, such as the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and the Mystic Seaport Sea Music.
