About Cholanad Restaurant & Bar
Cholanad Team is focused on delivering the South Indian culinary experience in a world class style. The Thai food and culture is heavily influenced by the Tamil cuisine due to Cholas. We intend to succeed by giving people a combination of excellent and interesting South Indian food in an environment that appeals to a wide and varied group of students and successful adults. All menu items are moderately priced for the area. While we are not striving to be the lowest-priced restaurant, we are aiming to offer exceptional food at reasonable prices for the average restaurant diner. Cholanad specialties are: Food on Banana Leaf as serving option, Chennai style Free Bar Snacks to Happy Hour crowd, International menu with featured menu changes every 4 months, 5 star chefs and Dosa revolution.

Rated 5.0 I visited with a friend on a beautiful spring evening- loved the large covered deck and FREE parking just off of it (on Franklin St!). Dog friendly. We just went for drinks and snacks ... cocktails were good and cost $4 less than nearby bar/restaurants. The food was phenomenal, and such a good deal! We split garlic nan and the tiger sampler, which cost $12 but could have gone for $20. On top of this, everyone who worked there was super nice. I'm looking forward to returning to Chapel Hill and eating here again.

Rated 5.0 Today is my wedsing anniversary. They gave us a table in the back so we could have privacy ro exchange gifts. Our waiter was Jarrett, and he was phenomenal! Our food was quick and delicious. The restaurant was very clean with white linen table cloths and linen napkins. The glasses and silverware were spotless, and the staff was very polite. I highly recommend this restaurant!!
