Sukhadia’s traces its origins back over five generations, to family recipes developed in the 1880s in Khambhat, India. These time-honored recipes for traditional mithai (Indian sweets) were passed down through the generations, each one adding their touch to preserve the authentic flavors and techniques. In 1990, Piyush Sukhadia, along with his wife Bindu, moved to Staten Island, New York, bringing their cherished family recipes with them. What began as a humble venture selling sweets out of their studio apartment quickly blossomed into a successful business. Initially, they sold door-to-door, offering fresh, high-quality mithai to their neighbors and friends, capturing the essence of Indian culinary tradition in every bite. As demand grew, Sukhadia’s expanded, and it is now a beloved family-run brand with a national presence, trusted for its commitment to quality and authenticity. With a wide range of sweets like gulab jamun, jalebi, and rasgulla, Sukhadia’s has become a household name in many Indian homes across the U.S. Today, Sukhadia’s continues to uphold the values of its founders, delivering handcrafted mithai made with love, passion, and dedication, ensuring that every bite brings a taste of tradition and family.
