Rated 5.0 Great inventive food. Something a bit different from the usual LA food.

Rated 5.0 This place is good at just about any time of the day, with or without reservations, (though I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance if you know you're coming and brining people with you, just in case), but if there's a particular item on the menu that catches your eye, you may want to check ahead to see if it's served at that time of day. The burnt carrots and desserts, for example, are only served during the dinner hours. I came for brunch, and unlike some places, this menu doesn't just do bacon and eggs. It has a full blown roster of specialties like Chai French Toast, Tortilla Espanola, The $10K Burger, Eggs Benedict, and yes, even Fried Chicken & Waffles. Everything is amazing, but if all you want is a fruit bowl or eggs & toast, go to Denny's. I mean, these guys have: FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES ($17): Buttermilk fried chicken, maple butter, & hot sauce. The chicken comes out piping hot & crispy, the waffles are fluffy & sweet, and the maple butter & hot sauce add the perfect contrast to make this one of the more adventurous chicken & waffle dishes I have had. And for $17, the portion is HUGE! CHAI FRENCH TOAST ($14): Made with brioche toast and topped with a maple bourbon whip; you definitely get the strong notes of chai spices and warm undertones, without overbearing the sweetness of the dish. Is it worth $14... Maybe, if you have the dough to spare. If you're not a fan of chai, however, definitely go for something else. They also have simple dishes like the Brioche Toast, the Herb Omelet, or The Fat Stack of pancakes with maple whip & blueberry rhubarb jam. They have a full boozy drink menu available at all hours of the day, including cocktails, beers, tequilas, rum, wine, what have you. And if getting drunk early in the day isn't your thing, they have a modest menu of coffees (featuring Stumptown coffee) & teas. Or water, if that's your thing.

Rated 5.0 Love love love! Slightly expensive, could be a little cheaper, BUT it's legit! I recommend brunch menu on the weekends!

Rated 5.0 My son recommended the restaurant. He stumbled on it while on a job. He wanted to go back for his birthday. We had the kale salad. It was very flavorful. He chose the beef cheeks and I had the rack of lamb. It was so so tender and well seasoned. Then we ended the dinner with a decadent chocolate cake and cup of coffee. I met the chef and owner Marcel. He is such a nice and down to earth person. I would definitely go back. They have valet parking which is needed on Melrose.

Rated 5.0 The food here was simply stunning. The service was fast and helpful. The braised beef cheek I had was the most tender cut of beef I have ever had. The flavors were rich and delicate. All of the food we got seemed to focus on complex flavors and textures. We also got the banana bunt with habanero and hibiscus ice-cream. The flavors again were so complex. It seemed to dance all over my tongue. I would be more than happy to return and try anything on the menu!

Rated 5.0 Exemplary service. Friendly and genuine staff. Kind gestures and not to mention very tasty and well balanced meals. We celebrated my parents' anniversary there for brunch and kept having people added to our table without a frown from the staff. Coming from Texas, my burger was just right (the best after Hopdoddy's.) Only one in our group said that the coffee wasn't strong enough. We recommend this quaint place to anybody who wants to have a positive, easy going brunch experience in Melrose.
