About Taco Mahal

When Mr. Josan opened his first Indian restaurant on the North West corner of Bleecker and Seventh Avenue in the West Village, more than 30 years ago, he never thought it would one day be reborn and live again with a spark of inspiration of his intrepid daughter, Danikkah. So after moving across the street to open a new magazine shop in the '80s which continued on for many years. Mr. Josan realized times changing and knew it was the perfect moment to pass on the torch. It was time for a rebirth. We call it: “Restaurant Reincarnation." Danikkah Josan decided to jump on board and transform the magazine shop into a beautiful and hip corner eatery. She tapped into her New York City resources and partnered up with a visionary Creative Director and Restaurateur Eddie Larios, who also shares the same passion for unique food with style to give LIFE, REBRAND and REDESIGN the space in the prime West Village location.Together they were up for the challenge to create something special. With Danikkah's family background in Indian cuisine, you would think it would be a simply transition -- however the Latina blood coursing through her veins it was anything but. There was only one thing to do. COMBINE THEM. Introduce a seamless blend of both incredible cultures.

Rated 5.0 Really great idea having “Indian tacos” in naan bread. I could have gone “fusion” but instead I stuck to just Indian and it was delicious.
